Hi,

As a tent camper, is there any benefit to joining the Camping & Caravanning club?

We have a baby and therefore always look for a top class site with electric & size for a 6m tent and I wondered whether membership would help us?

Thanks

Matt

If you do a search on this website and input C&CC, there are 26 threads which cover the subject of joining the C&CC, some are comparisons between the C&CC and the CC, link HERE
C&CC sites are usually very good, but not every single site has electric hook ups, Hayfield and Crowden spring to mind, I don't know about any others.
Funnily enough, today I received a newsletter from the C&CC in which one of the things was that you can now reserve larger pitches on some of thier sites for tents that measure more than 5m x 9m. Your tent is 6m, but what is the other measurement? Anyway, the relevant link on their website is HERE
As for other benefits, you can get insurance through them, also you can book ferries/sites abroad, if you want to go abroad. Other than that, they also have a network of what they call Certificated Sites, which are small sites allowing 5 units plus tents. Often though they don't have showers, and sometimes not even a toilet, so probably not what you are looking for.
They also have Temporary Holiday Sites, but again, some of those don't have facilities.
Have a read through some of the threads and also on their website. You could consider trying one of their sites out without becoming a member first, then you can decide whether it is for you or not. You would of course have to pay the rate for non-members in that case. Membership is now, I think, £36 per year for 2 members.

it depends on the size of your tent really,we had a vango 900xp,a 3 bedroom big tent.if we wanted to use club sites we had to use 2 pitches, which was expensive, but according to their latest mag, from next year they are making more super pitches for large tents.but it is a good club to be in.only draw back i can think of is they tend to put tents well away from the facilities.

We have had tents and now a caravan for years and were pestered to join by our friends for years but declined as we though you were stuck in field where the sheep have just been removed, then 4-5 years ago we decided to try for a year went to beacon farm sneaton nr whitby and it was worth every penny just for this site alone we have been on other cs sites since and regret all the missed years we could have been away more, try it for 1 year £36 or there abouts so not a lot and you can always cancel if not happy but i bet you will be hooked like us they do have the bigger sites as welll and rallies but we dont go on them as there is no leccy on the rallies well not the ones weve seen hope this helps Skiddly

Hi I know in coventry DA there is some rally sites they use that have electric on the rally fields but they are few and far between.

I go to DA rallies with my tent's 1 Day Tent  + 1 for Sleeping + Loo Tent dread to think how much it would cost for all them on standard sites. Was at Stratford Race Course the other week and we had showers and 24/7 toilet access but I was told by the DA (not Cov) there was no facilitys at all.

I know there is one holiday site that is in south wales that has a holiday DA rally in the next feild and it is a bit like butlins/pontins and you pay about £9 or so  a night and get to use the facilitys to the full. Only prob you are quite a way from the loo's
