Would like to get away for next bank hol weekend to a campsite that's within 2 hour drive of Scarborough but more than half an hour away - don't want to be TOO close to home, quiet-ish, good showers, ehu for tent, ANY recommendation would be welcome.

Thanks!

mill farm at skipsea s a lovely site, been there a couple of times, near enough to bridlington if you need anything or is that too close to home.  or what about York if you want to get away from the coast?

Have you looked at the Vale of Pickering campsite? I'd recommend it if you fancy a nice quiet break, with good showers, views and easy access to lots of lovely places. Not too far from home, either.

Yes - I do secretly love being on the nearly empty road OUT of Scarbro' seeing the miles of tailbacks of holiday makers on the way IN to Scarborough! Does that make me a very bad person?

me too.  We try not to go too far on bank holidays, it takes too flippin long to get anywhere.  But we do try to take it as a compliment that we live in such a beautiful part of the country where everyone wants to visit
