Tha Chichester camping and caravaning club site (actually in Southborne) is only about a 20 minute drive from Southsea.  No play area though and quite a cramped site.  Next door to the CCC site is a commercial site called Loveders, not tried it ourselves yet so can't comment on what it's like.  Alternatively there is another commercial site, think it's called Southsea Leisure Park at Eastney which is within Southsea.  We stayed here a few yaers ago before we had kids so I can't remember if it has a play area.  I can remember that it had quite a few permanantly sited vans though which rather spolit the look of the place.

We have relatives in Southsea and have been searching for years for an ideal place to stay in that area.  I have to say we have not yet found it.  Please let me know if you do find a cracking site.

After attempting to dig into the deep matter (very deep my brain) the only site I can think of would be Kingfisher in Gosport.  You can get a ferry from Gosport to Portsmouth which I am sure the kids would live.  There may be some on Hayling Island but I am not sure.

Hope this helps.

There are quite a few Sites in the area - Kingfisher is a couple of hundred yards from me - looks OK, but not 'countryfied' & doesn't get v good reviews on here.

There are a few on Hayling Island, the one at Southsea is next to one of the busiest roads in Portsmouth & the site always looks tatty when I go by.

There's a nice looking site just over the hill at Boarhunt (used to be a nudist camp - no longer!) - http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=3324. There's a lovely one (used to be a CL) at Titchfield - http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=6928; but the one I intend trying this year is by Butser Hill - http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=7843 - it looks lovely!

Agree with above Poster - very few decent sites round here - if there's ever a green gap they build houses on it! Aaaaggghhhhhh!
