Hi

We are looking for vacancies for a camp site which is 2 hours drive from Lancashire 3 at the most.  We have a tent and two dogs and we want something thats pretty quiet with a good shower block and has a dog walk near by.

We tried Hoddom Castle in Ecclefechan nr Dumfries thats booked up and we tried a few in Cumbria/Lake District but they keep coming back stating they are booked.  Does anybody have any info for anywhere that isnt booked up we are open to new areas either way north or south.

Help us if you can it will be much appreciated.

Regards

Jadenorthborder

Hayfield camp site is nice - lots of walking, decent shower blocks and dogs ok. Gets a bit busy over bank holidays though but worth a try and shouldnt be that far a drive for you.

Might be a bit close to home but Knight Stainforth at Settle is very good. Has all you want.

I am going to say no chance!

We had a hell of a time getting somewhere, "everywhere" in Cumbria and Yorkshire is booked.

We finally got in Fell End Caravan park in the lower lakes, near Milnthorpe.

Try Brighouse bay near Kirkcudbright. About 3 hours from you but meets all your needs. Quite a big site so may be able to fit you in.

rough hey wood at Triangle just outside sowerby bridge dont take bookings, first to pitch etc.

there is an old disused railway that has been made into a walkway that takes you into ripponden for the dog walks.

Looks like everywhere is booked up I have sent out loads of emails to loads of campsites and everywhere is booked up, I am just waiting for a reply from another but that is booked aswell.

Just got another email from another saying they dont have a booking system you just turn up, I am not going to a campsite where you just turn up and then they have no space and you have to come back home that would spoil my bank holiday weekend.

I agree with you, I wouldn't risk just turning up and hoping for a pitch, especially at this time of year.  Last year our neighbours drove 180 miles looking for a campsite and ending up coming home.  It's just not worth the risk.... and the bad tempers!
