We're thinking of heading down to Cornwall during the summer hols. Any recommendations for sites in the St Austell area, the nearer the sea the better. We don't want lots of on-site entertainment but a play area for the kids would be nice. We need a large pitch as we have a 7.5m x 6m footprint.

thanks

sandraj

Carlyon Bay is lovely, close to St. Austell.
The beach is walkable, but you have to go down a steep flight of steps. There is building work near it, but you can still use the beach.
The site itself is great, entertainment fairly low key, but OK. Has a good play area for kids, also plenty of room for football etc.
We didnt go to St. Austell itself, but there is a large market very close, as is two large supermarkets.

Hi

How about Treveague Farm, Gorran Haven which is 10miles from St Austall? You have got seaviews from the site it has a childrens playarea and is very well priced. You are not far from Mevagissey.

Hope you find somewhere
Debbie

Would you  believe that these are the two I have been looking at! Love the look of Treveague Farm and their story tellers, farm animals etc but am slightly swaying to Carlyon Bay as I think the kids will love the pools! It is more expensive though. Thanks guys!

We went to Carlyon Bay and Pentewan Sands last year, and are heading back to Pentewan next week. Both great sites and would highly recommend either. Pentewan was a little bigger and has a bar and entertainment. However it was certainly not "holiday camp" stuff. Clown for the kids and a singer later on. Carlyon Bay had no bar or entertainment, but hade a great play area and mini golf for the kids. Pentewan is right on its own beach (the reason we have chosen to go back there). Carlyon Bay is a bit of a walk to the beach, which was a building site last year. Check out the reviews. As said both cracking sites.

We'vve just been to Sun Valley Holiday Park, great indoor swimming pool, rabbit run for the kids to stroke the rabbits, 2 goats, 2 donkeys, outdoor play area, indoor play area ball pool etc, really large flatpitches, individual bathroms. Bit expensive and only takes full week bookings in the Summer!

Treveague Farm is good and very modestly priced. Good reviews on here too. We stayed last year. Quite quiet but they keep an open area in the middle for footie etc.

Were off to Pentewan this Saturday for the week, it was the on site beach that attracted us. Will give you a review when back next week.

Can't wait!!!

River Valley campsite at London Apprentice is just on the outskirts of St Austell on the road to Pentewan.

Its a lovely little site, next to a river with a small indoor pool, pets paddock and woodland walks along the river - you can actually walk or cycle direct from the site off road along the path to Pentewan.  Little village shop/takeaway just opposite the site entrance.

It has very good reviews - see here

Kathryn, if you're like us and enjoy the intermediate park (not lively or quiet) then Pentewan is just for you. We couldn't fault the site, we pitched in F field which was great because there seemed to be more space and still 5 mins away from beach and amenities. Full review to follow.
