There are a lot of us on here who go solo with their kids - for a variety of reasons. I know I do, but will use a tent, as my car will not pull our camper. If you do a search, a good section to look in is Camping under Canvas. There are also Single Parent Meets.
I am sure that if you phoned a site, they would be able to tell you if there was somebody available if you needed help in getting you van onto a pitch.
Look for sites with a playarea, as this is usually a good indication that there will be other kids on site, and usually means that the site is family orientated.
