Hi, we have just booked the forthcoming weekend at Bath Marina. Can anyone recommend a route to this site from the M4? Google maps is suggesting I take "freezinghill lane" off the A420 rather than go through Bath itself but I get very concerned about using roads that include the term "lane" when we are towing! Has anyone used this route and can tell me if it is a decent enough road, or if it is (heaven forbid!) single track?

For reference the route I have done goes from Pennsylvania which is the first town you go through when you come off the Bath jct of the M4.
Clicky

Thanks in advance for any replies!

Hi Gemma1675

You could go this route slightly longer but all main roads .Travel to jcn 19 ( bristol) follow the signs for Avon ring road stay on this and it  will take you oppsite end of bristol ( hicks gate roundabout) turn left follow signs to bath A4  going through Keynsham and Saltford .You will come into Bath the marina end . Hope this helps

steve

Freezing hill is not single track but it is narrow and winding, alternative route would be to stay on the A420 to the outskirts of Wick then turn left towards Bath past the Tracy Park Golf Club and up the hill.  Freezing Hill joins this road so you can continue to follow your instructions.  driving through the city on the A4 at a weekend (or a weekday for that matter) is not an enjoyable experience unless you do it in the early hours of the morning before the shops open!

good luck

mind you the road by tracey park does have a hill and a sharp bend in doesnt it ?, which in the wet might cause a problem,

freezing hill lane comes out right on the bend im on about, i wouldnt want to come out of that bend with my van on the back, id either go through or bath or shoot round the bristol ring road out onto the A4 and your already on the right side of bath.
