I know there are loads of threads about the dreaded Scottish Midges, but I haven't found any relating to the areas I'm booked in to in July...

We're going to Garlieston on the 18th, then Ayr a week later and I'm just worried that the midges might be at their worst then...

Anyone been at these times?

Any idea which SSS Avon product is effective? Pink or blue?

its the green one, fresh I think its now called used to be woodland or something!

Hi Dont know about the midge but thought id let you know we stayed at Garlieston site at the week end in the walled garden area and have to say what a lovely site. Have a walk to the pub for a meal doesnt look up to much from the outside or inside come to think about it but we had 2 course meal for 2 1 can of juice and 2 magners all for just £21.50 and couldnt fault the meal nothing fancy just plain good cooking.

We stayed at Garlieston at the end of May/beg June - no problem with midgies on the Harbour Side. Our pitch was right in front of the Toilet Block (got the sun from morning to night). We didn't fancy the other area (which is just outside of the Site) - too many trees!. If you are cooking your own meals - go into the CL Site next door (not part of the Caravan Club). They breed & sell their own Pork - fantastic!!!. Hope you get the same hot, sunny weather that we had.
