I'm looking for some recommendations for my first campsite.  I've bought a 5 man (about 4m x 3.5m) tent for two adults and two young children and want a reasonably soft introduction to using it.  My ideal spec is as follows:

• Walkable to a sandy beach
• Walkable to a pub
• Good, clean shower and toilet facilities
• Family friendly (though I assume most are!)
• Ideally in Devon/Cornwall, but any south/east/west coast, southern wales would probably be ok.

Hi - we've just returned from an excellent campsite in Charmouth (on the Dorset/Devon border). It's virtually on the beach - sandy when the tide is out (and it goes out quite a way). Campsite has good facilities and Charmouth is only 5 min walk - two pubs / fish shop / groceries etc. We enjoyed it so much we're about to book to go back. Good luck!

We have just stayed at the Headland Caravan Park in Tintagel, it has everything you want apart from the walking to sandy beach, although there might be one if you walk along the coastal path which is a stones throw away.  We drove 10 mins down the road to Trebarwith Strand where our son played in the sea for hours.
