Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to arrange a lads holiday (3 of us, all aged 25) for this summer. We aren't a particularly rowdy bunch, so not looking for wild nights to spoil anyones holiday. However looking for a site with a few decent pubs within walking range.

Also, looking for some decent walks for during the day (nothing majorly difficult but enough to keep us entertained) We're pretty much open to suggestions anywhere in the UK. If anyone can recommend any particularly good ones with pubs and walks in mind, I'd be more than grateful.

Many Thanks in advance 17

hi there,

i would have to say the Lake district would be ideal for this. the site i would recommend has walks all around it and is a 5 min walk into town where there are several pubs.

Vote here for the Yorkshire Dales! But them I am biased.

Lots of campsites, lots of walking in beautiful scenery ... and of course lots of pubs!

Try looking for campsites near Hawes, Kettlewell or Grassington, they are bigger villages and all have several decent pubs  in them  (most of which will serve good food  too) and are in good walking areas.

Lots of sites like you request here in Cumbria

Sykeside at Brotherswater is one

Bowber Head near to me is about a 10 min walk from 2 pubs. Site is basic but owners are really nice

another one near me is in Kirkby Stephen (Eden Valley part of Cumbria) - Pennine View
Lots of pubs within 2 - 5 min walk away

Cottage of Content , Warwickshire. The camp site is at the pub. no idea about walks though but sure there will be some

I'm with Anniemacxx on this one - you can't beat the Yorkshire Dales for great campsites, good walking and fab pubs!!!!

I can highly recommend "Cote Ghyll" at Osmotherley (near Northallerton)

There's a nice site at Glenridding in the lakes. I can't remember the name, but it's the only one in the village. The pub is about 50 yards from the site, which is at the foot of Helvellyn, so great walking.

In the Dales, any of the sites (there are 3 or 4, I think) within walking distance of Hawes would fit the bill, as there are several good pubs in the village and one just outside at Hardraw. Beautiful walking round there.

In the Peaks, Hayfield C&CC site gives you about 4 pubs within a 20 minute walk, and great walks, including Kinder Scout.

Thanks so much to everyone for their replies so far. I've been to Sykeside before and have to admit I was considering a return, will have a look through the other suggestions tho.

Thanks again!
