HAs anyone any recommendations for either of these areas. We have a trailer tent, 3 children and although i don't mind a quiet site it would be nice to be close to some amenities, shop etc and must have a playground!! and EHU

Please help i've been searching for days and have a few but the reviews are mixed for them all, one i like Twitchen park seems expensive £300 for the week but if it is really really good i wouldn't mind paying.

Thanks :)

The woolacombe group of parks are very good, we have stayed at Golden Coast and also Easewell, you may find that it is cheaper to stay at Easwell, as this doesnt have the entertainment in the evenings, although you can cross the road into Twitchem if you wanted to, we love these sites, great for the kids, and you never feel that you are being ripped off

Thanks for that, Just checked Easewell, it's £20 cheaper for the week. Might be worth the extra 20 for the bigger site. Might bight the bullet and book.

We've never been to that part of the country before and i'm so excited. Our first real camping holiday, only done weekends before.

Thanks :)

We have stayed at Twitchen once in a static van before we bought our tourer and it was a lovely site, our kids loved it. Woolacombe beach is our favourite, you need to get there early though in the peak season as car parks near to the beach fill up quite quickly. Its a great area to visit.

Thanks Judith, i feel better knowing people have visited and it's a good site, particularly with the price. I think the site put on a bus to the beach.

I would recommend this site ,North Morte Farm, just outside Woolacombe. It is in a truely spectacular setting, with views across to Lundy and the lights of South Wales at night..

Yes it can be a bit windy, but the EHU area is much more sheltered, and there are always plenty of trailer tents on the site. There are tent fields on a slope(these are totally non-ehu), but the EHU area is reasonably flat. It is a well laid out site with windy roads so you don't feel you are camping in straight lines.

The toilets and showers are kept clean and smart, busy at times but if you chose the time you go for a shower carefully, you should not have to queue.

There is a childrens play area, and direct access to a small rocky beach, but it is a very steep walk back up to the site. Woolacombe Bay is only a 5 min drive, huge and sandy.

The campsite is actually in a very pretty village called Morthoe, just a short walk away are pubs, teashops, gift shops. I am not sure if there is a restaurant, but there is a fish and chip shop.

There are statics on the site, you drive through them to get to the camping area. Some people have said that the site looks commercial, but the statics are beautifully kept and smart looking, as is the whole site. It is always clean and tidy, the owners are friendly and efficient.

It is not a commercial site, but has good facilities, a play area and is so close to a lovely village and beaches.

It is my favourite site, we have stayed here several times in recent years. I have tried to address some of the criticisms that people have put in their reviews. I am happy to recommend  the site.

Sarah

We had a seasonal pitch at Twitchen for 2 years. Throughly enjoyed it and what we liked was that if they said there was a kids club or entertainment then no matter what time of year it was it was on!  The Bistro was at the time run by a couple called Rebecca & Daniel who were great nothing was too much trouble and it was good value.  The only reason we moved was that we needed to be nearer home for it to work for us, but we would consider a break there again when time permits.  Im sure you will enjoy it.
