I would recommend this site ,North Morte Farm, just outside Woolacombe. It is in a truely spectacular setting, with views across to Lundy and the lights of South Wales at night..
Yes it can be a bit windy, but the EHU area is much more sheltered, and there are always plenty of trailer tents on the site. There are tent fields on a slope(these are totally non-ehu), but the EHU area is reasonably flat. It is a well laid out site with windy roads so you don't feel you are camping in straight lines.
The toilets and showers are kept clean and smart, busy at times but if you chose the time you go for a shower carefully, you should not have to queue.
There is a childrens play area, and direct access to a small rocky beach, but it is a very steep walk back up to the site. Woolacombe Bay is only a 5 min drive, huge and sandy.
The campsite is actually in a very pretty village called Morthoe, just a short walk away are pubs, teashops, gift shops. I am not sure if there is a restaurant, but there is a fish and chip shop.
There are statics on the site, you drive through them to get to the camping area. Some people have said that the site looks commercial, but the statics are beautifully kept and smart looking, as is the whole site. It is always clean and tidy, the owners are friendly and efficient.
It is not a commercial site, but has good facilities, a play area and is so close to a lovely village and beaches.
It is my favourite site, we have stayed here several times in recent years. I have tried to address some of the criticisms that people have put in their reviews. I am happy to recommend the site.
