Hi

We live in Cornwall and go away every weekend (except the winter) and it depends on what you are looking for.

If you are looking for family parks with a lot to do, you won't go far wrong with Hendra, its not on the beach, but good public transport as parking in Newquay is a bit of a nightmare high season. A little further out is Monkey Tree Rejarrah, good facilites and transport into Newquay.

Perran Sands Perranporth is another large family park, although the showers could do with an update, and it is right on the beach. Also have a look at Trevarrian and Watergate Bay.

Something a little smaller but with a pool club etc, Sun Valley St Austell is excellent.  We not been to Tregarton (never get a pitch with a motor home) but it has a good reputation as does Trevornick Holywell Bay.

A suggestion for site with pool, food shop but no club, Carlyon Bay St Austell is well recommended.

Gwithian Farm is a nice site, right on the beach and the showers are nice, but there is not a lot there no shop, take-away etc, but the pubs Sandsifter and Pendarvis Arms are within walking distance.

Christine, re Parkdean, these used to be great sites for touring, the facilities are normally very good, but as the static's increase the pitches are being run down, for example Mullion Holiday Park, the touring fields are some way from the the centre and the showers leave a little to be desired.

Hope this helps

Jude

Hi Lou

I live half way between Camborne and Porthreath, quite near the country park, & I spent quite a lot of time in Bristol at Uni

Perhaps you might have some further sugggestions for our future campers

WE have been to Tregarton Park twice & think its brilliant. The only other campsites we have stayed on in Cornwall (usually visit relatives) are Beachside and St. Ives holiday park both in Hayle, we preferred St.Ives holiday park as they had hook ups for tents which Beachside didn't but that may have changed.
Last holiday we went & looked around Trevornick & Monkey Tree both looked quite good.
Lou

you cant say that perran sands is on the beach,as it is a very steep walk down a winding path to get there.Or it is a 5 minute drive to get to beach, but it is a nice site,we are going there in September. We would normally go to Tollgate farm, but booked the haven site last year, got 12 nights for £89,on hard standing, with electric, and full use of facilities
