Hello fellow campers,

Could anybody help me in finding a good campsite within the new forrest. We are a couple in our forties and we will be taking our vw camper.Ideally we would like to go on a few bike rides so a site within access of cycle paths would be ideal....Heres hoping.......

Hi, we just spent 5 days at the end of May at Setthorns, which is a forestry commission site. Really beautiful setting and very peaceful. We chose this site as it has a dis-used railway running through the site giving easily child friendly cycling without having to go on the roads. We didn'y cycle as much as I would like but it seemed to be a good central area to cycle from. Only downside was no toilet or shower blocks!

I can highly recommend either Ashurst , Roundhill or Hollands Wood all with easy access to cycle routes through the forest all have showers and toilet blocks about £20 a night , is not to far away there is also a new site at Pondhill Farm very basic a toilet but no shower as of last yr but only £10 a night and is on the Beaulieu to Lyndhurst road 1/2 a mile from Lyndhurst, hope this is useful

Take a look at this one http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/results3.asp?search=red+shoot&by=sitename.

We stayed here during the Whitsun holidays and thought it was great.  Spotless loos and showers and with very convenient pub.  You only need to walk out of the campsite and you are right in the forest.

We'll definitely be returning.
