Hiya it really depends how much travelling you are willing to do, there are too many places to list that are of interest from the west to the east, you have Edinburgh castle & the zoo also the museum of flight, Glasgow is great for shopping and also has 3 great museums, Ayrshire -  Robert Burns, Inverness - Nessie, Culloden, Moray Firth for Dolphin spotting -  St Andrews - home of golf.....  Glen Coe, the West coast probably has some of the best scenery in the world could go on and on, best thing would be to kind of plan a route and then post back on here for things to do and campsites around the area.

If you see the scotland thread there is info on there that loads have posted as well as me for layby's i have some marked off on a map but you need to know where you are going or just e mail me and i will send you them i used to have a motorhome.

The caravan club site at Bora (dalcham) is tops 60 mile from wick and john of groats the site has a beach (shingle ish) just a walk across the golf course. Bora is so laid back it is unreal.

The drive to wick from Bora is one big hill and it is quite hard but well worth it.

Just done Sheffield to Lochinver - an 8 day tour at Spring Bank ...

Stopped at Abington 2* one night one the way up and on the way down, Blair Castle 2 nights on the way up, Clachtoll 3 nights, and Avimore 1 night on the way down ... my reviews are still in the system .... I can highly recommend them all ... BTW ... if you can't do "big hills" .. go to Norfolk

On the A9 leaving Helmsdale there is quite a long old haul of hill, leading onto a HORROR of a hill at Berridale (Berridale Brae) which includes a couple of hairpin bends. Further along at Dunbeath is another big dip in the road but you can get a run at this down one side and up the other.

I stayed here many many years ago, superb part of the country. North East scotland above Inverness tends to be a bit barren in places, if you want to do John O Groats I would definatlety travel back along the north coast all the way round and down the west coast, but remember that it is a long way and the roads along the top and down the west coast can be single track in places, however its rare you meet anyone! The beaches down the west coast are out of this world especially if you get the weather, roll on global warming!!

If going in July take the midge cream or else you will be eaten alive!!

Also remember that its ok to wild camp in Scotland so no fees if you have onboard facilities.

Hi Marie........nearest Club site to John O' Groats is probably Dunnet Head but there is a basic site at John O' Groats. If you are there, take the Ferry/Bus Tour to Orkney to visit Scara Brae - Maes Howe - Churchill Barrier - Italian Chapel - Standing Stones etc. There is also a Club site at Wick.

The A9 runs all the way from Stirling to John O' Groats but there are many sites en-route
