For me grass cutting is doubly annoying... its not just the noise, its the hayfever... have to say though in August last year we were away for 22 days on grassy sites and didn't see a lawnmower once, and the grass was short...

I agree that 6 hours grass cutting is excessive esp as we have had reasonable weather recently. I must confess it is my constant gripe with hubby and I win ( of course!) that where possible grass is cut on a tuesday/wednesday afternoons. This way it is out of the peak times so the noise is only to be heard by the sheep and hopefully not too many customers and it gives the grass time to blow away so it doesn't walk into the toilets - causing me much more work than is necessary. Like the previous poster we have no way of disposing of the grass and simply aren't big enough to have a compost heap, whihc would be huge anyways on the amount of grass that is produced - we do however have a mulching mower - which helps but the grass has to be very very dry and much time results in just smaller pieces of grass tramping into the loos!
------------- If you can't beat em, join em, so we did! And then we sold it for a holiday let & Glamping pod instead 😁
We were in Devon in May at a fantastic site but the owner there was a bit obsessed with mowing, he did it the same bits EVERY day for the week we were there, some mornings he was quite early and woke us up.
I can understand it needs to be kept short but once a week should be enough.
I read your post before i read your signature Esther and knew exactly where you stayed I must say i was never woken up by it though and it never annoyed me i loved that site.
Maybe i'm odd but i don't mind the noise of mowing and people maintaning the site i sit and watch and take it all in i find it relaxing.
Not much annoys me apart from shouting swearing and unruly kids but i've not come across much of any of that apart from the child who threw a boomerang that hit our caravan leaving 2 big dents in it.
Lol Jackie, I think the mowing is mentioned in someones review of the site.
I didn't mind it, in fact it gave us something to marvel at lol.
I'm with you on the screaming kids being more of a nuisance and I also get annoyed when someone whacks the radio up full blast, opens the windows and lies ouside sunbathing all day

Don't go to a site next door to a golf course. The ground keepers have to keep the grass on the greens cut to set short heights and they have to do it before golfers play because they'll keep arriving at the green every 7 minutes. That can mean the sound of mowers at 0700 & I've read reviews complaining about the early noise. It's like complaining about cockerels crowing - it has to be expected in that situation.
Compulsive obsessive mowing disorder, however, can be irritating.
A while back we were on a site that seem to have quite a few permanent vans, you know, green algae on the awnings and full size fridges inside. Come Friday evening the hoads turned up complete with mowers and strimmers and began to cut the grass around their little piece of pitch. this was repeated with some on the Saturday and a few even cut the grass before they left on Sunday. I now don't generally stay on sites if I can help it over a weekend unless I know that they dont have permanently pitched units.

If all is not lost where is it then?

As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
We are on a CS now where the grass is not collected which annoys me, had a visit fron relations last week, we had to collect the grass, plus it gets in the caravan.
Grass has to be mowed and can only be done when weather and site times allow. So you can't have it all ways. I also prefer it to be collected - it's just as unpleasant having grass cuttings in your tent as your motorhome or caravan. But if I'm away and grass cutting is being done, I just regard it as a necessary background noise and one I'd have to put up with at home anyway.
