why not go into asda at jn 17 on the m5, people on here have said before about it and they say they have not had any problems, open 24hrs so you have everything you need, and only just off the motorway.

Given the time of day that you are travelling you might want to consider going south of Bristol so that you are going through the M4/M5 interchange at a time where it isn't likely to be rammed.
Can't help with specific CL's other than there seemed to be loads on the A38 from the M5 into Bristol when we were down there the other day.

if you do as the above suggests come an hour south to the Devon/Somerset border.
Minnows CC site at Sampford Peverell (junction 27 M5) is a perfect overnight site - bordering the canal (walk to the pub) and an easy 5 minute access from the M5.
I agree with getting past Bristol before stopping,I have used 'The Ashe 'caravan site just off junc 25,ideal stopover and cheap as well,nice pub walkable.I t is listed under Taunton.
