why do sites have to charge one price for two adults then extra for children awnings extra?i try to stay away from these sort of sites as i think your pitch price should be that i dont see the difference what it make especially the ones were you then have to pay for swimming showers and other bits

I`m assuming that its to meet overheads, children use facilities,ie,shower, toilets etc, the other stuff that fits on your pitch varies greatly from site to site so thats up to you as to weather you pay or not,as long as its on their site clearly priced i don`t have an issue.
They charge it because they can and presumably people pay it because they continue to charge it. Simple economics of supply and demand. It's not at all uncommon, though, is it? There are sites and prices to cater for all. If you like a site but not it's pricing policy, the decision is all yours.

we`ve started using the more basic sites, showers & loos arent an essential as they are in the majority of caravans.it chops £10-£15 off a weekend away at a club site.
i think £21.40 for 2 nights at this time of year for caravan with 2 adults with leccy and awning on a very well looked after site is reasonable.
I agree that you shouldnt have to pay for diffferent sizes of tents or if you use an awning or not but I do think its fair to charge per person on sites where the showers etc are free as they have overheads and water charges now are crazy!
I'm just stunned after looking thru a local sites web pages that they can charge £23 per night (2 adults and 1 child), no hook, up for a 6man size tent in july, with no pool or entertainment on site. Amazing. A Pup tent was an extra £2 per night, as was an additional car. Must be ruddy raking it in.

This means nothing without knowing the sites you are looking at. For instance this is a good price for a C&CC site and not many have entertainment or a pool. You can camp on the cheap but maybe not where you want to. A campsite is a business and has to make a margin. Some will make more than others. If you don't like it don't go there - no point in moaning about it. It's kind of self regulating - if it is so expensive that no body goes, it will either close or reduce it's prices. If it is busy regardless of the price it charges, well draw your own conclusions. As I said before, the decision is yours. Want to stay? Pay the price.
A campsite is a business and of course the owners have to make a living. However, I agree to some extent with the thinking on pricing. The pitch should be one price for van, awning and dog (if you have one). Extra people over and above the 2 included in the pitch price should pay extra as they will presumably be using basic facilities, showers/toilets - which use electricity, water and all have to be replaced in time due to wear and tear. Any extra facilities, i.e. a pool - I would also expect to pay extra for because of maintenance, running costs etc.
At the end of the day, you must weigh up what you consider important to your comfort and your stay and decide whether you consider the extra facilities or a higher standard of facilities, worth paying for.

I'm right with you on that front. I dont pay the big money out of principle. In two years of motorhoming I've yet to go to any of the club sites and prefer my little 5-8 quid a night cl's and cs's

stayed at a site that gives a discount for not having an awning or electric so thats better than ever you dont pay extra but get money back fab
Thats a good idea, we very often in the summer go without an awning.
I do think that up to two children should be free but anymore should be charged for.
I don't mind paying a reasonable charge for the dog if they have somewhere to walk her and they have poo bins.
