We had a lovely holiday last year at Appuldurcombe Gardens with kids aged from 4 to 11, play area & pool, childrens entertainment in bar (small scale), lovely local walks and only 3 miles or so from the beautiful beach at Ventnor. As said before though, you might struggle with availability at such short notice.
