FIVE FOR PARTY ANIMALS
31. Robbie Love’s, Cornwall Known locally as Robbie Love’s, the “proper” name of this campsite is Trenant Steading. It’s a mile from Polzeath Beach. (Read Harriet Addison's account of her stay at Robbie Love's. Details: 01208 869 091. £10 per person per night. http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=8983
32. Mitchums, Croyde, North Devon This child-free site is popular with surfers as it’s right by the beach overlooking the bay. There’s a café on site — great bacon and egg baps for breakfast, and hot chocolate with marsh-mallows for when you’ve spent too much time in the water. A sister site is in the centre of Croyde. http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=1704. From £13pppn.
33. Smugglers Haven, Newquay, Cornwall Club 18-30 with canvas? The “hen and stag” section on the website is a clue. It’s child-free but 16 and 17-year-olds are allowed to camp unaccompanied if their parents give consent, so expect lots of tear-soaked and alcopop-fuelled conversations at 1am about why Brian snogged Tiffany but was later seen with Debbie. There’s an outdoor pool and the delights of Newquay are but a stagger away. http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=8859 . From £12pppn.
35. Brandy Wharf Leisure Park, Gainsborough, Lincolnshire The fact that the website recommends whiling away the hours at the cider centre next door says it all. While some facilities look rather wholesome — fishing, canoeing and the like — the atmosphere is extremely relaxed. Campfires are allowed, and music is only restricted after 1am. http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=4737. £5.50 pppn
