Hey

Just wondered if anyone here camps in Autumn/Winter and where you go/how you find it? Would love to try but obv with young kids we would need to be REALLY warm.. which I expect can be hard in a tent?!

Plus where is there to go off season? Pref not more than 2hr drive from Sheffield.

We camped at the end of October last year but the weather was horrendous , even for Britain . We ended up packing up and transferring to a static . Like you say , it was more our youngest , he was only 18 months old and we couldn't keep him warm in the f/c cos he always kicks the covers off and no way would he sleep in a sleeping bag .

Having said all that , there are plenty of peeps on here who camp all year round.

Think we will deffo try, prob local ones for 2 or 3 nights, we have a EHU and need to buy a fan heater as the neighbours old one broke when we were away- luckt it wasnt codl tho! x

We camped at the end of Sept last year and it was lovely, Indian Summer blah blah blah.

This year we are going on a Halloween weekend at the end of October half-term. As adults it's fine, but we do find we spend a lot more time inside the tent playing cards etc which for youngsters would be very boring.

Gas heater, quilt and lots of layers are definately needed.

We went to Shewrood Forest last Oct. It was brill for adults and kids alike! But...OMG!! It was soooooooo cold! We had been there the year before and it was lovely. Sunny and warm during the day and abit frosty at night. But last year, even with the heaters on, 2 in the awning and 2 in the van..it was bitter cold. We woke up one morning with frost on the inside! And that was with the heater lol

We even had to make a hotwater bottle for our 2 pet rats! This year we will take extra, extra warm blankets!
