Hi All, We are towing the caravan from scotland and heading down the M6, 1st week in Aug. Looking for some suggestions on best service areas to take a break mid morning. Preferably a service station with a large drive through parking spaces for long caravan, with good entry/exit for fuel etc. Need to have stop to allow kids to have some breakfast and for refuelling. Hopefully with the parking area not to far from where we can still see caravan while having breakfast. Thank you for your suggestions.

Depends where you are starting out and when. Killington Lake is ok. Teebay would do us too, but we never use the facilities. So on that basis we just stop when we feel like it and where we can find a space.
Since you have the van, why not use it and make your own food? We always eat in the van, much cheaper, and better!
Depends where in Scotland you are setting off form.
Westmoreland services (independent family owned) are easy to drive through and stop at. But at only just over the border they may be too near for you.
Killington Lake (next ones down) are an easy pull in and drive through too (are they MOTO?)
Next ones I'm sure are Forton Services, but think they may now be called Lancaster South (as they had a bad rep as Forton).
Westmorland is what people call Tebay Services but there is also Tebay Truck Stop or Junction 38 (J38). These are very nice and you can pull the car and van in where the lorries park easily - if using those don't pull up to the petrol forecourt go just that tad(very little tad) further and drive through the truck petrol pumps (not literally) and round the back to the huge truck park.
Hi. I know a super place just 200 yards from the M6 on the Staffordshire / Cheshire border. Easy parking, super food and very cheap. No problems with security as you can always keep an eye on your van. Problem is we are away ourselves that week so you can't come to our home.
Honestly - we would make a detour to these if we needed a stop going south. Great kids play area, fab food, great toilets and family facilities. Trouble is you WILL want to spend money in the lovely shop!

We often go along the road to them just to buy cheeses and bread - and the butchers meat is lovely too. If you go to the Southbound services you can see the butchery in action (they also own the farm that all the beef and lamb come from)
It all depends on how soon you'll need a break once you join the M6. I came down there yesterday by car and stopped at Southwaite which is the first you come to near Carlisle.
Be warned there are currently roadworks right outside these services and the motorway is down to 50 MPH with only the inside lane open. It could make it interesting trying to rejoin pulling a van. Couldn't see any indication of how long they are likely to be there but you know how these things drag on.
