Both these sites have flooding problems at the moment according to the local news.Might be worth giving them a bell if you are planning on going there this bank holiday........

We got back this morning, and it was starting to dry up. We couldn't get through the floods back to our van on Tuesday, and the ballroom/pools and sports hall were all closed.

Was there much damage to your 'van? Where'd you go while it was all flooded?

Hi after reading about the floods I rang blue dolphin as we are going there tomorrow for a few days the guaranteed that it would be ok so we will have to wait and see or maybe just hope they are not telling porkies.

Rayray

You must have been one of the poor sods on the camping field.  We booked for 9 days going the Sat before the BH week-end.  Was expecting to go on the field, but was put on 1 of the pitches in the main park near the play area.  As a result we managed to get some shelter from the hedges.

Went for a walk round to the field on a couple of days.  Not a pretty site for some campers as their tents were half-down.  Lovely weather for flying kites (or maybe even your own personal hand-gliders)!!

We have just returned from Blue Dolphin and there was a really bad down poor own Weds eve and lower down on the field there were people flooded but all I can say is if you pitch your tent in a dip well there is every chance if it rains that you will end up very wet but we were on a pitch higher up and it was absolutely fine just a little wet on the living area floor. All in all the site was ok nice warm shower block the only downside I found was I felt the indoor pool lacked a good scrub.

I stayed in a static at Blue Dolphin around 3  years ago.  I thought it the most depressing and filthy place I had ever seen.  Has it changed, or were we just unlucky when we went?  I actually reported the state of the swimming pool to the local health and safety people who went and examined it and made them do some repairs.  It must have been bad for them to take enforcement action.

Have they done the work they promised to do?  To be fair they gave us a full refund.   Our caravan was filthy, the floor underneath the seats was covered in food crumbs.  The van next door had a blocked sewer pipe and there was a 2ft pile of sh*t up against the van.   I could go on.    I think they had no choice but to refund us really.

They suggested moving us to another van but they were even worse.  I remember thinking the fence along the cliff edge was a bit flimsy, and now a kid has fallen down it.   Not a great advert in my view.   Hopefully the touring part would have been better.

And the bedding they hire out had chewing gum stuck to it.  Oh yes and the club house.  The carpet was soo sticky you could hardly walk on it!  Ughhh!!!!

my sister in law is there at the moment, i went a long time ago and vowed i would not go back, however they seem to think that hiring a static is "camping" same with my MIL  they cant understand how and why we have our own equipment and lug it all over the uk at the drop of a hats notice! i am sure my hubby isnt related to the rest of them they like blackpool he prefers the lakes!

anyway anyone reading this and panicking stop, this was originally posted last year, and apart from the usual stuff i.e. kids running around drunken parents etc (well my SIL is there this weekend!) weather wise nothing to tell

Well the swimming pool indoors had algi round it and I had contenplated ringing health and safety there was a cold hosepipe running into it a young lad was drinking from it and the lifeguard just shrugged his shoulders and the changing room floors were absolutely filthy.  Things advertised in the brochures were not to time either. But that sounds doom and gloom but as I said it was our first holiday in a tent and we did have a fab time.

I would go back there the camping facilities were fine.

OOPS.  Never spotted the 2004 date.  Anyway, was at CV bank holiday and had great time.  We went to look at Blue Dolphin as I've got a voucher to use up and thought we could book for weekend in 2006.

Thought the whole camping set-up was a bit hap-hazard.  Won't like to be snoozing there one night when some camper come out of club, falling over ropes etc.

Lorarose - stayed at FofM couple of years ago with brother in awning of his tourer.  Thought it was OK but now prefer Cayton Village site.  Have a look whilst your in area (left at Cayton lights on way into Scarborough then about 3/4 mile on right)

By the time you have walked back from the club I think the fresh air would probably have sobered you up a little we did not have any probs with people tripping over our guy wires apart from my clumsy kids and they were sober and knew where they were.
