We returned from Scotland last week and visited Blair Drummond Safari Park from our campsite on Loch Lomond, Milarochy Bay.

Not sure if you want to be this far away but it was around 15mins drive but the site was well worth it. Right on the Loch it is a very quiet, pretty site with execellent facilities.

I would have thought that 15 mins was a bit ambitious on those roads it is over 25 miles from MIlarochy to Blair Drummond

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013

Balmaha is the nearest place that the Microsoft Autoroute picks up for Milarochy Bay.

From there to Blair Drumond is 26.3 miles and according to it, that will take you 20 minutes.

However we often travel this road and I would give myself about 40 minutes for that journey.

By the by, as you leave Buchlyvie heading for Blair Drumond, there is a pull in area with toilets and a van selling hot food. Very handy for a quick stop.

I am originally from this area. There is a newish campsite about 2 miles from the Safari Park just outside Doune, and there is also a site at Thornhill which is about 3 miles away.

Link to the one at Thornhill

http://www.mainsfarmwigwams.com/

It says on this website there is no camping allowed there, but as you can see that is not true!

I think this is the one at Doune

http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=7079

There are quite a few to choose from around Callander, which is about 8 miles away.
