...Is this the policy of the camping and caravan club as it does appear to be very discriminatory if so.
No, unless it displays advertising, it's not a Camping and Caravanning Club Policy, which is "3.6 - We want all of our Customers to enjoy their holiday. Therefore, we ask that you do not trade on site and do not tout or engage in commercial advertising or display any advertising notices on a unit (a firm's car or van with name and description on the side is acceptable)".

I know a site very well in Wales that dont let vans on, They are friends of mine that turned up to the site, swb transit, not lettered up, and just turned away.

Its not a hangover, its wine flu!
We don't camp anymore however when we did and had our Ford Transit DCIV we never encountered any problems. I would always bring it to the attention of the site when bookng and explained my son had a disability meaning we needed to bring more stuff etc and all were accommodating, I have heard that some sites will accept them but sometimes ask that you can is parked in the car park as opposed to on your pitch. We had to do this at a site in Anglesey when tky brother transported all our camping stuff for us in his sng written van, this site had a no van policy and we were allowed to drive it to the pitch to unload etc and for the remainder it was parked on their main car park.
I'm sure you will be just fine as primarily it's a car derived van more so than our Transit DCIV and we were fine.

which vehicle is a car derived van? the only van mentioned is the Traffic/vivario/primastar, these are not car derived! saying you are sure it will be fine is no good when turning up late fri night in the rain and being turned away!
ring the sites and give them clear info on the type of van, condition, colour etc.
I think you will find that a lot of sites with a fishing lake won't take vans because they are worried that someone will have a big tank built in the back and take the fish. When you think about it , some fish can cost an absolute fortune.
