Hi Steady, as previously said, stick to the M8 and Erskine Bridge. Great Western Road is the A82, but it's full of stopping and starting for traffic lights and such, it's much less hassle to bypass the city and stick to the motorway.
Motorway traffic does tend to bottleneck from shear volume at Kingston Bridge in the city centre, but it's plain sailing to and from that busy spot. Come off for the M898 to Erskine bridge, stick to the left hand lane going over as the two lanes become filter lanes on the other side, then that brings you straight onto the A82, signposted for Crianlarich if I remember right.
Then that's pretty much it, dual carriageway right into and through Dumbarton, then down to single carriageway at Balloch, and you're only about 10miles from Luss...if that.
Hope you enjoy your holiday, Luss is a great wee place.
