Has anyone got any good recommendations for a family friendly campsite which would be suitable for a first trip in our new family tent? We will be travelling with two under 3's! We would ideally like somewhere with good, clean amenities, close to the beach which is known for being a relaxing and quiet spot. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated as we are desperate to try the tent out before Spet/Oct.

C&CC club Bude is nice site but the brocure does not quite point out the main road has no path so unles you take the car you cant walk or bike anywhere. It says you can walk to the beach which you can but 500m walk down the grass verge on the atlantic highway to the public footpath accross the fields and to the beach. Dont get me wrong the site was fantastic but the setting not quite as fab as it read. If you dont mind the car every time you leave site then fine it worth a go.

I can suggest somewhere clean and fantastic for a young family in Gunvenna at St Minver. Sadly it's away from the beach.

I would recommend Chy Carne at Kuggar on the Lizzard in Cornwall, we have just returned from a lovely 2 week holiday there.  It is approx. 5-10 min walk down to the beach 10-15 mins back to campsite, there is a large car park down there costing £3.00 a day (we never had trouble parking).  The campsite is very child friendly with a great play area, and the owners and staff are lovely and very helpful.

I would recommend Polmanter in St Ives.  Excellent facilities.  Closed to some beautiful clean beaches.  There is a local bus services which picks you up at the campsite and takes you into St Ives which saves all the hassle of parking. The site has a pool and a lovely play park for children.

I would also suggest Camping Caradon near Polperro.  This is a much smaller site, no pool, but again close to lovely beaches and again has a local bus service which takes you from the site to the centre of Looe.

Two sites I would recommend:

Little Treverrick (the sister site to Polmanter), near Carbis Bay/ St. Ives.  A much quieter site than Polmanter.  It has a swimming pool, generally large pitches, but no clubhouse.

This year we stayed at Globe Vale, a delightful site near to Redruth.  A little bit further from the beach (about 3 miles to Porthowan and Portreath) but well worth the visit.  Owners very friendly and helpful and the site/ toilet block is immaculately kept.  Childrens playground on site and a small bar area where the adults can sit and supervise the children while having a pint.  They also do some meals, but it is not noisy or club-like.  Absolutely worth a visit.  I have written a report for UKCampsites but it has not yet benn added - hence this post.
