I don't know the site that you mention but it's presumably the beach at Brean Sands that you mean? Yes you can take dogs on there. It's the nearest dog friendly beach to our house and we regularly take the trip down the M5. It's a really lovely beach and there's a nice cafe at one end that we often walk to.

What is there around to do for kids (3 years and one 7 months!)
I was there in July, Great site, each field has its own small play area, also a big field for walking the dogs. Brean Leisure park just down the road, not sure what its like as it was closed on the day we decided to go. Beaches in Weston-super-mare & Burnham probably better for young ones. IT WILL BE WINDY!!!!!!!!!!
Brean is about as dog friendly as you can get. If you are on Sunnyside of Warren Farm the pub by chippie (think Brean Down Inn) lets dogs in, also the Seagull and Lazy Days pubs both do really good food and allow dogs. Make sure you get ice-cream from the van on the Seagull car park - wow!! Dogs are allowed anywhere on the beach with no restrictions and also in the fair. Hope this helps - have fun!
PS - take a fleece & strong tent/awning pegs - the wind is fierce!
Warren Farm, Brean, is one of the best campsites I've stayed at. Loved it there. Loads of space for the kids to run about in, and as clarky213 said, there are play areas in each field. We stayed in the one that doesn't allow dogs (field 6) as we don't have one ourselves, but there is a big dog walking area onsite which we went to and flew our kite in. The Brean Down Inn is only a short walk away and sells a great cider! The entertainment in The Beachcomber is fantastic for young children, and there is a great outside play area in the pub garden. The food in there is excellent. Have a fab time there. V jealous I'm not going!
