Hi All

Husband wants to go and see the Falkirk wheel next summer, and i do not seem to be able to find any campsites on here near to it.

Please could anyone recommend any sites as near as possible, dont mind travelling, but not too far.I need a site that is going to accept a large tent as have a Ontario 8,with porch etc.

I will reply to all recommendations made and would be grateful for any advice given.

Many Thanks.

Regards.

Jumpjet if you get stuck have a very large back garden.  We live about 6 miles from Falkirk.

I can recommend Mosshall Farm (see on Ratty's map). It is right next door to Papa Pip, always handy for a cuppa and if your lucky, a bun!<G>.

It is a site that is used through the week by folks working locally but it is dead from Friday Mornings until Monday Evenings.

There is a huge camping field in the centre of the site and you can buy fresh milk and eggs at the farmhouse.

Whitburn is just up the road and has lots of Take-aways, shops and restaurants.

Situated in East Whitburn off at Junction 4 of the M8 it is just 13 miles from Falkirk.

There's a caravan club site (woods farm?) not far away.

Falkirk wheel is worth seeing, but not worth travelling to see!! There is no visitors' centre and boat trips are expensive.   But it is a magnificant piece of Engineering.

There is a large visitor centre at the Wheel with free entry though you do have to pay to park. Look it up on the web.

I live 2 minutes from the wheel it our local walking area.  It has a large vistors centre and shop. it,s well worth a vist but I don't think you could spend all day there.  Beecraigs caravan site at Linlithgow is not far away.  another place to vist  in the area that is free is Callander House in Callander Park
