I agree with caz we have always found the HSM's on C&CC sites very helpful and accommodating. We have been members for 9 years and although we now have a caravan we were tenters for 6years before we got the caravan and were treated no differently by the C&CC. We recently went to Verwood site and we were given a choice of pitches - the HSM showed us a map of the site and pointed out the pitches we could use - there were some tents there and as far as I know they were given a choice of pitch too.

We have also witnessed some very rude campers who seem to have an attitude problem and have given the HSM's a very hard time.

We've met grumpy and happy in both, but don't personally like being allocated a pitch with the C&CC. Much prefer to pick my own like in the CC.

On a well-run farm/commercial site last August a group pitched directly on the patch of yellowing grass vacated a couple of hours earlier by another family. Somehow I can't see that happenning on a C & C C site!

Well said BorderCatz, having worked for both clubs I can honestly say that there are rude customers whichever club you choose. Sometimes you can pacify them sometimes not.

It is a great job to do and we know full well that when we are on site that even on our day off we are still on duty. People recognise us in the local pub, towns and attractions and will always want to chat. This is not a problem. We now work for the Caravan Club and we are very pleased to be doing so. The facilites provided for staff are excellent, I did not mind sharing toilet facilites with the rest of the campers as I knew they were clean...I cleaned them! When we were on late shifts however, in the height of the season we were still having to get up early to get a shower so that we were not late by waiting in queues, I do not now have to share a washing machine with another 200 pitches to try and get my uniform clean to wear as I am provided with one that I can use when I need to. My hubby and I do not have to get up at 7am to unloack a gate or wait until 11pm to lock it again. On a single couple site with the Caravan Club they are relieved for 4 days off a month, on a Camping and Caravanning Club site, once the managers are there they are there for the whole season and have to think about the logistics of trying to get out to the shops to get their weekly shopping etc. Son on the whole there are a great deal of differences between the 2 clubs. Which one you prefer is up to you, I certainly know which one I prefer working for!

How would you feel if the Caravan Club started allocating the best pitches to tents?  17

CC do not allocate pitches, people choose what they want from what is available when they arrive so it is on a first come first served basis.

Bill

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013
