I am going to be able to slot a few days camping in the Lake District in for early October, I am looking for a site that:

Allows camp fires

Is close enough to the fells to get on them without having to drive

Has a pub nearby

Anyone got favourites that might suit (Excluding the Langdales, I always go there and fancy a change)? Your help appreciated and thanks.

Bowkerstead farm - Grizedale not sure how close to the fells though. My favourite campsite, just beautiful. And Campfires. And a pub 1/4 of a mile to walk to...5 miles from lovely Hawkshead with more lovely pubs.

Just been to Eskdale c&cc, really nice site, very close to fells - could have walked in all directions and not driven once. Fab pub nearby - Boot Inn (5min walk) that served lovely food. Not sure about fires but think I did see one over the week.

 Would agree,Bowkerstead is a nice site in a good location,also Fisherground at Eskdale also allows fires and as Tattygina said is a great location for walking.
