Just looking for a quick get away this friday for 2 nights, has anyone got any favourite sites near Carlisle, preferably with pub on site or nearby.

Already been to Lowther several times and looking for somewhere different.

Hi we have stayed at wild rose in appleby very nice with small pub. You could try bruces cave no pub on site but on in village.

Dumfries and galloway council have one at Locmaben right on the loch no pub again but several in town about 2 mins walk also has bar in golf club next door and only about 7 miles from a74.

Stayed at both Hoddom Castle and Wild Rose both have a pub on site, Hoddom Castle has lovely surroundings wish we livd near.

We live in Carlisle and love Hoddom Castle as a weekend getaway, unfortunately this year we have only been once (we have a 16yr old daughter) say no more...

Hoddom is a lovely site, fantastic food in the bar, great for bike rides walks and peace and quiet.

Annan is 4 miles away lovely small town, Pow foot beach is lovely aswell, there is a site right on the beach, but maybe a bit open with the tides and wind.

what about stanwix park at silloth, it can be as quiet or noisy as you want it to be

spent easter there & had a great time

Just over the border in Dumfries and Galloway is Hoddom castle which i think is about 30ish mins drive from Carlisle. Set in the castle grounds it has a pub and restaurant and we really enjoyed our stay. Have a look at the reviews and see what you think.
