Out of courtesy he should have gone to treceptioon first, but I have never been to another site where you get kicked off and spoken to in such a rude and nasty way.
One of the guys came in his work van, and was told that he couldn't park it with his tent, but he had to park at the other side of the site. £10 is not a lot to lose you're right, but when you've been looking forward to going away for ages, and you get all this hassle when you are there it ruins the weekend. Even more so for our friend who was asked to leave.
I can only re-iterate what I said - DO NOT VISIT THIS SITE, IT WILL RUIN YOUR WEEKEND LIKE IT RUINED OURS.

We went to a site this weekend and it stated quite clearly on the gateway to report to reception before pitching. We were naughty and hubby drove round looking for a pitch while I went in. I apologised profusely but they were OK about it really.
Having said that your friends had paid a deposit so he was expecting them . What was his problem???
Did he book someone else onto the pitch that they were going to be on? Maybe he had agreed a lesser price to you lot when you booked and realised such a good weekend could command a higher price so was trying to fill up with last mintue punters and charging more to them. Sort of trick I would think of if I were a cynical money making machine type person.
ok you turn up at your booked camp site and reception is closed what do you do? only had one trip so far but going to polmanter (st ives) this weekend so would like to know.
Nortmally you pitch up and go to reception first thing in the morning.
Most campsites are happy with this, it's just some like Glen Trothy that try to be as difficult as possible and end up driving their custom away. Having said that I have never come across a site owner that has behaved in this way before.
Normal campsites are reasonable and are't able to man reception 24/7, so this happens.

They have a web site, and anyone can leave a message on pointing them in this direction, (that is if anyone can be bothered). Personally write it off and do what you are doing - telling people.

Everyone is entitled to my opinion.
Organised people are just too lazy to look for things.
I had cause to visit this site earlier this year when I was delivering a caravan for someone (selling mine).
I was only there about 30 minutes and I got so much grief it was unreal, I was not allowed to reverse the caravan because I would have to had driven on the grass and might take out the standpipe at the side of the pitch, didn't think that would be a problem until she came out....WOW
Well I definitely wont be going there, sounds awful, then again maybe a load of us camping ladies should go on PMT week that would definitely be an eye opener, not for us ladies, but the camp manager and probably the whole site!! LOL
HAPPY CAMPING!!
