Hi All

Has anyone stayed at Fell Foot Wood ?

http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=8982

Looking for somewhere quiet to go camping with my daughter, away from usual camp site suburbia of shower blocks and play areas.  Some trees and a lake/river would be fine. That place looks like it might be OK, or maybe not, i.e, will she be finding bongs in the bushes.

Can't see the place mentioned on here anywhere and no reviews...

Cheers.

Looks like kaftans and beads would be a prerequisite for staying there! You might want to take a flute and a tambourine too.

dont mean to sound negative but we checked this site out a couple of year ago to look at the tipis, must agree website sounds good but it is located close to the main road and the you had to drive through a timber yard to reach your pitch.

there are far nicer sites in the lakes that would fit the bill, try bowkerstead farm grisedale to pitch in the woods, no playground, 2 toilets and campfires

That's not being negative, that's exactly what I needed to know.

Thanks very much.

Didn't even know there was a site there.  The country park is lovely for a day out though.

the site is on the opposite side of the road from the park, you wouldn't know it was there as there are no signs for it, but i would use the term site loosely as when we looked it was purely a couple of tipis in the trees.

Might be a bit far then but there's a site in South Wales called Lone Wolf Campsite, There's 2 camping fields but the best part is in the woods (it's about 18 acres) it's got river that runs through the woods and you can have campfires, It's a bit of a treck to the loos and showers 2 mins or so and if you've got loads stuff could mean a couple trips to your car and back (so best to try and go light)but IMHO well worth it at £5 a night.

It's listed in the campsite search with loads of reviews
(this is my next planned trip next w/end)

Cheers
Don.
