I am looking for a campsite in the North of England (mid October) either east or west it doesnt matter. It needs to be family friendly and within easy walking distance to a village/town that has a couple of decent pubs that serve good food. Too much to choose from on the campsite search so decided to pick the brains of my fellow campers. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  17

We're just back from Seahouses in Northumberland (Springhill Farm). Really lovely and weather fantastic! Easy to reach - down the A1. We walked everywhere - about 1mile to town and beach. I've posted a review but not up yet.

What about Highburn House in Wooler, I've never stayed there as I live in the area but Wooler itself would meet your needs and is a lovely little town.

Bainbridge Ings, Wensleydale

Not sure when in October they close! Brilliant site easy walk to Hawes which has loads of pubs to eat in, an Indian, and a chippy

I'd second Bainbridge Ings. Lovely site. THE CHIPPY in the town is FAB!

Also would recommend Castlerigg Farm, Keswick.

Cote Ghyll in Osmotherley is a lovely family friendly site.

Walking distance to The Sheep Wash and Cod Beck reservoir and an easy stroll into Osmotherley itself for the pubs, chippy and a quaint village store.

Thanks everyone for the advice.  Will look into all these options over the weekend and hopefully get something booked.  Roll on our trip now.  Fingers crossed the weather is fine 17
