Hello All, can I pick your brains?

We're planning getting married in spring 2011 but really don't want the traditional hotel, sit down meal, church thing. We love camping and the outdoors and would love the incorporate this somehow. We also want it to last longer than one day if we can.

So I was thinking it would be nice to find a site which has cabins/lodges/caravans (bit less reliant on the weather than tents) enough to sleep 60 guests which we could hire for a weekend. It would ideal to have somewhere that also has a barn/large room where people could gather over the weekend. Then we'd get married in the nearest registry office or licensed venue.

Am I asking too much I wonder? Has anyone been to a place that might fit the bill? We live in East Lancashire but are willing to travel about 2 hours in any direction.

Yep, that's how we did it. Suzy looked around and found a site 8 miles from home in one direction and 8 miles from the registry office in another direction. She contacted the site owners and they were willing to let us have sole use of the site for 4 days over the B/H weekend. We visited the site and agreed it would suit our needs perfectly, they had 10 - 12 cabins and static vans, plus of course pitches for motorhomes, caravans and tents.

Our UKCS friends were real stars, with the loan of, erection, lighting, decorating and breaking down of a marquee    ,(you never can tell what the weather will be like) the use of a firepit  (great for baked potatoes later in the evening) and numerous helping hands.

We hired a bouncy castle for the day... we had a hog roast ... we brought our CD player and amp along with cd's... brought drinks and cakes etc... all went well

That was 6 months ago today!
