Has anyone stayed there? I ask because its the closest site to Lee on the Solent I can find and the BOSS and I like it round there as its not overly comercialised.

Thanks Brummie

We've been several times (I think I have posted a review).  It's a great location, not the tidiest of sites, clubhouse open to public, they do great food.  Good cycling along the front, walk to Stokes Bay, ferry from Gosport to Portsmouth.  Website isn't very informative, all cartoon style piccys, made us suspicious, I would rather see the real thing.

We stayed there for a few days this time last year with friends! Site was not one we would have chosen  but our friends been there before & liked it!

Site is OK but seemed to have mainly seasonals & contractors there - the toilets/showers were clean albeit slightly dated.  The bar/club was popular & some of the military lads from barracks across road seem to drink in there!

There was a  VERY large firework display & funfair across road last year which we watched from van!!

On the whole, ideally placed if you like the general area!!

Alison

Hi ya,

Well I live at Lee On Solent and I have to say that whilst it is not what I would call a super campsite I would agree with the above comment, it will suffice if you like the area.  The bonfire the that Cider Belly is talking about was last week so you have missed that but I am sure that there is still plenty to do.  If you wish to know anything about the area ask and I will answer as best I can - after all we have to keep the BOSS happy...

Me and my Boss stay there quite a lot, we both like it. the bar isnt cheap, but the food is and its good. Plenty to do round the area and its just over a mile from Lee. Lee high st got some good shops with local stuff in, we always bring home a van full of faggots from the butcher there. If you park near the bar it can get a bit noisy at night but there are plenty of spaces away from it. Bus stop right outside, taxi about £5-50 into gosport ferry. Might see you there eh kid? (Nov 28th next time we go)

We have friends in Gosport and used to stop at the Kingfisher, but beware if it rains it is like a sea of mud, I have even been there when ducks were swimming between the caravans. What they call hard standing is rubbish, because the hard standing part is only just wide enough for the width of your van's wheels so if it is wet or raining you step out of your van into the mud. Another drawback id the fact that you cannot park your car at the side of your van, you have to put it on the carpark.

We go to Gosport quite regular but we now always stay at the CC site Rookesbury Park, it may be a bit further away, but it is A1 in all respects

We've always parked next to the 'van, is that a new rule?
