Can't believe how fast sites are getting booked for next yrs summer holidays in Cornwall!
First one I tried to book was full for the whole of the 6 weeks hols, and the second had 4 pitches left for the week we wanted, so have booked and am excited now

I know but Don't want to end up on a rubbish site, we wanted one right on the beach in Cornwall so they mostly get booked up quick but think this is the quickest I have known, must be the credit crunch making everyone stay home! We usually do France but due to buying a new van can't afford it next yr!
If a place is fully booked up, then it must be a very busy / popular area. For me, that means avoid it like the plague! I agree that sites are a lot busier at present, but there are still nice ones that are relatively quiet.
I wonder that if the 'Credit Crunch' eases, UK sites will become quieter again?

The two main sites in st.Ives are ayr and Polmanter and most people book for the following year before they leave. We tried to book onto ayr for next july while we were on a rally at the rugby club last july but they were already fully booked then!

Is that Pentewan Sands? Gets booked up early every year!
i dont understand the appeal of Pentewan, the pitch prices are the most expensive i have come across (its was well over £50 a night for us to have a front row pitch) and we thought that it looked like a shanty town, everyone pitched very close together and all surrounded by gazebos and windbreaks, it was also a little off putting that people who were booking in were being handed a letter saying thats "due to anti-social behaviour, teens & children must return to units by 1.00am, goodness knows what time they were out till

I was also going to say that many commercial sites encourage you to book before you leave. They can then get interest (not much)!!! on your deposit and you can book a preferred pitch.
We have done this for many years but then we are boring people who tend to visit the same sites - but it suits us.

Yes it is Pentewan, not been before (apart from to drive past) Have checked all the reviews and they look good, and being right on the beach will be great! I didn't think it was that expensive, we haven't got a premium pitch (they had all gone) but got one in a corner backing on to the stream in H field, so hope its ok!
I was going to suggest you book up for the Chy Carne UKCS meet in Cornwall (thanks The Clarkes) £140 a week - join in as much or as little of the organised events (every other night) as you like . Fantastic price for what looks to be a great site and good company. never been to Cornwall before (this is down The Lizard??) so really looking forward to it.

Think all sites are expecting a bumper year next year, so we have booked all ours up to now. main hols anyway better to be safe than sorry. weekends we will just wing it and hope we can get in somewhere. we dont go on bank holls anyway to many rug rats around then.
------------- when only the best will do.
