Hi Enid,

I haven't stayed at both, but whilst at Dunstan Hill,  where I  had 10 nights in September, I looked at Proctors Stead.

Both are very pleasant sites, DH is larger and quite a busy site. If you like smaller sites (I usually do!) PS may suit you better.

For me DH had the edge, because of the excellent dog walking, it was lovely walking to the beach with my flatcoats and young golden. Facilities were well cared for and wardens pleasant.

Easy acccess to Embleton village for shop, petrol and pubs.

I would certainly stay there again, but not at the height of the season!

Hope this helps a bit, maybe someone will come along who has stayed at both.

Thanks a lot - think Dunstan Hill will be the winner especially as you say excellent dog walking.  We are going with our Goldie and our friends are taking their Lab. We will be going early June.

Thanks can`t wait to go.

Hi, stayed on both.  Both good sites but Dunstan Hill better because of the smashing walk through the woods to the beach with the dog - ours loved it.  From the beach walk all the way into Craster.

Hi

We went to DH and it was good but i think i would advise you to go for a gravel pitch as the central grassed area gets a little crowded IMHO. Craster village is brill and the walk from the site to the beach is about 15 mins stroll.

Cheers

I passed Dunstan Hill campsite on a Newcastle to Berwick-upon-Tweed bus earlier on in the year. Looked a nice site in an area for lovely walks. I also noticed that quite a few off the site (bus stops right outside) used the bus to travel instead of using their own cars/vans. Might be handy If you're stuck at anytime. The whole east coast area of Northumberland is lovely & I'm looking forward to returning there again soon.
