Hi, I've been an avid camper now for over 6 years but i'm wondering if anyone has any heard of any camp/caravan sites that are planning anything special over the World Cup 2010 period. Me, my wife, father-in-law and mother-in-law are all planning on camping/caravaning for at least 1 week of the tournement and are ideally looking for a location in the South West or South Central. For the 2008 Euro Championships we stayed at the Mayfield Site outside Cirencester and, although we watched all of the games from within a caravan, we had a fantastic time and really enjoyed ourselves. It is this type of small 'gathering' that we are hoping to tap into again. Are any campsites advertising deals for the duration of the tournement??? I am just looking realistically for a campsite in the areas stated above that allow raised/confined fires, have good TV Ariel receptions and have local shops i.e. Tescos, Morrisons, Adsa close by. And by the way, no we are not rowdy hooligans out to disrupt peoples holidays and enjoyment, as we are all in our mid 30's and 50's!!!! We are just passionate Football fans and generally just want the same fun and atmosphere that we got in 2008, and that was without Englands involvement!!Any help you can offer me would be greatly appreiciated.

Many thanks,

Paul Rogerson

Hi 'RoggieHullrlfc'!
Welcome

Well, we are planning to be camping down south, in England, at the beginning of July, and hope to get to see some action in the local pubs! Of course, we'll be able to give our neutral support.

hi, by the looks of it you seem to follow the egg chasers rather than the true code However that can be forgiven by your eagerness to move away from the dark-side!! I too am planning to camp during WORLD CUP 2010! possibly the greatest world cup yet( so long as we make it past the group stages), so hope others read and take note that sport can bring the world together(sic) ANYWAY... if site owners or managers see this swelling number of fans looking for facilities then lets hope they give the great British public what they want!!!      How about a big screen and dedicated parties where fans represent their countries by bringing food and drink of their respective affiliations eh? A man can dream

Grapefruitmoon, ha ha ha ha. Can always rely on the Scottish to support the English!!! 17 You know that when you come down south there will be St George flags flying everywhere, therefore if I was you I'd search the internet and purchase a couple of Scottish Flags to fly 'high and proud' in the middle of your site!17

OOHGETYOU! Good detective work son as yes, I am an Eggchasing supporter first and foremost, with football second. Saying that though, I'm Rugby League, not Kick and Clap!!! But, as for your suggestions, now THERE'S a couple of ideas if I ever saw some! A big screen at a campsite would be BRILLIANT!!! Would deffo get my vote of approval. Different nationalities bringing there own respective beers and food, man I could envisage a brilliant week!!! Are any caravan/campsite owners out there listening??? He could be on to something here my friends!!!!! 17

A bit out of the way i suspect, but for the last world cup my wife & i stayed in the south of france with the site being 20mtrs from the beach,we were the only english there with the majority being dutch, germans & a few swiss, we were flying the St George & the atmosphere was quality all the bars were showing the games with French bar staff keeping us well topped up, may i also add we are a well behaved couple.

This year we will be heading for Cornwall & i only hope Ben9 is not nearby.

       Come on England

Cheers for the advice Berty. Unfortunatley we are having to stay in the UK (the recession bites!!!) so foreign shores are not possible, although I would have loved to have sampled what you did.

Keep us updated if you find a decent campsite in Cornwall for the World Cup, we might just end up there too 17!!!!

Keep the faith, Fabio the messiah is here 17........
