Has anybody found a decent pub backyard site near the m5 bristol area, we like to stop off overnight on way down south and these tend to be cheaper and have the advantage of having a pub close by. we used to use one on the a38 which had a field at rear and charged about £5.00 per night, but i have noticed they don;t do it now. hope you can help

Somerset view is just off the m5 near bridgewater. Not a pub but it is cheap. Mixed reviews on it and I don't know it myself - I just came across it on a "for sale" site
Hortham Farm is very close to the M4/M5 interchange, obviously not a pub, but there is one just down the main road (A38?), going towards Bristol, one of the Hungry Horse chain so reasonable cheap food and Sky tv. The site costs £8 per night, unless it has gone up but won't be much more.
we stopped off at the poachers pocket burlescombe north devon 2 mins off m5 on way to cornwall its a little cl in the back yard of the pub ideal for stopping over.and will use it again next year its midway between junctions 26 and 27 of m5.
If you are heading to Cornwall - Minnows CC site at Sampford Peverell is on a towpath with short walk to the local pub. It is not far from the above mentioned site ^^^^ at Burlescombe (poachers pocket).

We have stayed at Ash farm,Thornfalcon, excellent site a couple of miles off the M5,pub 5 minute walk.Check the reviews site is also listed under Taunton
There is a pub just outside Cannington on the A39 which has a campsite at the back - it called The Cottage Inn, would be better suited if you were heading along the north coast though.
Somerset view is an ideal spot, just over 5 mins from J24.
Wendy....am I reading it right and the campsite is for sale, if so, which agent did you see it with?
Well thanks everybody for your input and suggestions, i expected being inundated with pub backyard sites but it looks like there is none any more, which is a shame as they are adeal for one night stopover's and cheap, but thanks anyway, best wishes for xmas and new year, Pete
