The reviews in the campsite search are written by the same people who will reply here, so why not just use them?

never been myself, but have heard from friends about the eskdale site. open fires etc. apparently it is good for kids of all ages. we went to castlerigg hall near keswick, and i would definately go again. no entertainment or clubhouse, but thats best sometimes!!

Keswick C&CC site, easy walking distance to supermarket and town centre and right on the shore of the lake, a good dog walk if you have pets, only downfall is it can get water logged depending on the time of year and the weather.

Agree with the one at Eskdale, its called Fisherground and allows campfires.  Its in a very picturesque site and has a small train running alongside the campsite with a station which takes you to Ravenglass - kids love it.

We go on holiday in October, and we really enjoyed our stay at this site,

http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=2238 just outside the town of Hawkeshead, 5 mins walk at the most.

Previously have stayed at CCC Keswick site but woke up one morning to water on 3 sides of the caravan - that put us off.

Lovely area and many lovely sites, its really difficult to choose just one
