Both Dingwall and Wick caravan sites are within easy walking distance of the town centres and I reccommend both sites.

Hi all,
Thanks for all the replies & campsite suggestions keep them coming please...
The main reason i wanted to visit john o'groats is that i have already been to lands end & just wanted to be able to say ive done both ends of the country
thanks again
eddy & co
Actually Eddie, JoG is not "the other end of the country". It is only the other end of the mainland.
Muckle Flugga on Unst is the most northerly point of both Scotland and the UK and that is another 171 miles (as the crow flies) north of John O Groats.
I am planning a caravan trip there in 2012 if you want to join me?

Hi Eddy
you will have a great time.
My sister and I did a 2 week roadtrip Sept 09 in her VW camper starting in Derbyshire and travelling via Dumfries, Auchterarder, Lairg, Durness, Kinlochbervie (small CL described in Jan CC mag letters),Scourie, Clachtoll, Ullapool, Badrallach,Gairloch, Applecross and then over to Dunkeld for the trip back down South.
We did a trip round the Outer Hebrides 2 years ago and the next one will take in the East coast and top right hand corner!
The sunsets on the west coast are stunning and the single track roads actively encourage you to take it slowly and savour the scenery.
Have put reviews on here for all the sites above,
happy travelling
Jane

Hi all,
I agree with MAXITAXI. Witches Craig is a lovely site & Stirling is a nice city and very central for going everywhere. We stayed in 2007 & visited Stirling Castle & the William Wallace monument, Edinburgh & the castle, St Andrews, Loch Lomond & had a great holiday. 5 of us went & my son & myself were a banquet for the midgie's but my wife & two other kids were untouched......Still don't know why! Don't let it put you off though!
------------- maybe sidboggle1969 OH and kids had one of the avon cream products, that tend to be more affective with midge's,what ever is in the cream they do'nt like it.
------------- If everything runs smoothly then I must have done something wrong
If in Doubt Check it Out.
John
