Stayed last year, rail station next door with trains to Chester and Manchester, quite a large site within the forest, when we were on site there were quite a few kids around as it was half term holiday and the Go ape climbing facility is in the forest, would imagine that outside school holidays and during the week the site would be fairly quiet.

open all year but fills up really quickly especially if you want hook up. For weekends you need to be booking it at least 2 weeks before you want to camp, and that is out of season!.We stayed over New Year 2009...superb. Midges are hellish in the summer. The site is quiet. The main road runs along one side, the train station is along the adjacent side and forest on the other 2 sides. The back gate opens directly into the forest.

hi we were their 2 years ago, our pitch was near the road but well away from the railway, we found it very quiet. cannot help with parking, but when we return we will use the train to Chester £5 each return ( 2years ago) no hassle & a free bus to town or 10 min. walk.

 all the best andy

We were there only last weekend, from Friday to Monday. The site itself is very quiet, but the road alongside is rather noisy, try asking for a pitch at the bottom end, ie away from the road, and it is much quieter. Pitches 1 to 10 are on the far left as you come in, and the railway runs at the back of those, but you don't really hear that, they are quite infrequent. You don't hear the traffic there.
You don't need a park and ride for the station: from the site it is a 5 minute walk to the station, if that, trains run to Manchester and Chester.
