If you check out my profile I have done a review on this site. Going by memory it was a nice enough site but a bit flat and featureless...units all lined up like a car park although fairly big pitches so plenty of room.

The toilet block was brand new last year so is as good as you would expect. Not a bad site at all and a nice area. I would certainly go again.

The pub at the gate is nice and the people friendly but I found the licensed cafe (The Black Shed) a few yards up the road and on the banks of the canal, although basic and a bit like a transport cafe, did lovely grub and lots of it. They also do breakfasts. It was also slightly cheaper than the pub including drinks...and you can sit outside and watch the activity on the canal whereas the pub is a little confined with the outside seating area next to the campsite entrance road/car park.

Lovely walks or you can hire bikes and ride along the towpath for miles. Very pleasant.

I live in Gloucester and use the site on a regular basis just to get away from it all.  The owners are very nice and helpful and the new shower block is excellent.  The pub next door is great - even if I have not been for several weeks , the bar staff still remember what my tipple is!!

The surrounding area is also very pleasant with the WWT nearby and walks along the canal.  Overall, a good site and pleasant area.  Roll on two weeks time for my first visit of the year.

We go to this site fairly regularly as it is one of our favourites, and not too far for us, we didn't go last year though so we haven't experienced the new toilet block.  We tried to book for Easter this year but they will only take 5 night bookings (!) so I guess we won't be going after all as we have to do that thing called work in between the weekends.  It is a shame but I guess the owner does have that new toilet block to pay for.

The pub is good, the food is not quick but is good quality and worth the wait.  It gets pretty busy so you may need to book.  The food in the cafe is also pretty good, and it does a very good trade.
