We stayed for a few days in Filey last year at Muston Grange which was ok but not suitable for tents. Next door to Muston Grange is Centenary Way which accepts both tents and caravans. We had a nosey round and thought we would use that site if we returned. It is a 10 minute walk into town and the beach. We didn't use our car for most of the stay.
There is also Filey Brigg at the other end of town but it seems a bit open to the elements and it was very windy the day we walked around there.
There isn't a decent website for Centenary Way but don't let that put you off.
Country Park (Filey Brigg) is on the cliff top and when its sunny, its glorious, but as jaqugra says when its windy its open to the elements a bit.
However you are spot on target for walking down to the beach, a couple of minutes walk and ideal for exploring rock pools on the brigg (but please take notice of tide times, available at the lifeboat house)there is also a small amusements as well as food stalls/chippy.
If you camped at Centenary way/Muston grange its about a 15 minute walk down a bridleway/footpath, past the golf course and horses field, past glen gardens park down to the south end of the beach.
Filey has about 10 pubs in town, so plenty to choose from!
We have stayed at both Filey Brigg and Centenary Way and much prefer the one at Centenary Way. The Filey Brigg site is adjacent to a large car park and during the evening, we were bothered by boy racers driving up and down and using the car park as a race track.
Lol Caroline, Humblebee would be great if they were walking the Wolds Way, though its a bit far to the beach carrying a deckchair and picnic!!!
Best wishes Sam
I would fully recommend centenary way. We always stay there whe we go to filey. The facilities are a little dated but clean and there is a kids play area. Best of all though it is really safe and relaxing and a lovely site for families being so close to the beach. You walk from the site down a footpath and end up on what we think is the best part of filey beach as it is also where the paddling pool and the boating lake are.
Another vote for Centenary Way here. Lovely site with childrens play area/playing field and a dog walk, and a pleasant 10-15 minute walk down the footpath past the golf course to the beach. I would recommend this site to anyone.
