Hi Im trying to find a campsite within 30 mins of Leek.  Im trying to arrange a school hol break near to OHs work so that we can extend the weekend a bit.  The ability to walk into a pleasant village with a few shops maybe a pub/restaurant would be great.  Play area essential with good clean showerblock & grass pitches.

I've done the usual campsite search & area searches on here but not being familiar with this part of the country and the roads Im not really getting anywhere

There is a C&CC site just outside Leek, about 5 minutes drive from Leek itself and near to Tittesworth Reservoir, which was lovely, great play area for the kids.

Thanks Khwood - is that Glencote? I've enquired there but awaiting a response seems to be only hardstandings for tents though

It's at Blackshaw Moor and there is the Three Horse Shoes pub only a short walk away .

Try these results too, using your search criteria
(tent / showers / playground / bar within a mile )

 Ha!!

Well we've decided to compromise a bit on location and have gone for Rivendale in Ashbourne which is still fairly close to OH's work & plenty for me and the kids to to whilst he works on the Friday.  I've asked for a large pitch as Im a bit worried about a few 'packed in like sardines at peak times' comment but looks good overall.

Hi,

not posted for a bit but am planning a camping trip with the kids and came across this post.

I am looking at the leek C&C site, it looks good, has anyone been?

I'll be on my own tenting with 2 kids in April (hubby can't get time off work!) so dont want to be too far from home!

whats the play area like? can you walk to the reservoir with 2 kids? can you walk to the 3 horseshoes with 2 kids? how far is the nearest shop?

Many thanks, Lisa x

No, you don't...but there is a non-member pitch fee of (I think) £7.10pn, so if you're staying (or using other Club sites) for a week or more it would work out cheaper to join. I'm sure the wardens will advise you of the best option.

Sorry, can't answer your other questions as I've not stayed there, but you might get an idea from UKCS members' reviews here.
