Heard this week that there's been a re-application made for a new campsite in Gowerton, Swansea (my Village). 50 caravan places and 50 tent pitches plus play areas, shop etc. Plans look good and the position of the site will be great for anyone to go touring the area. No winding, tight lanes to get to it, straight off the main road, brilliant. We're hoping they will have a storage area there as it's only a 5 minute walk from the house. For those who know the area, there's the Gowerton CC site nearby (Yep, the one with the 8pm lock-down). The new site is planned for the fields alongside the area on the left of the main Gower road at the traffic lights where you turn into the lane for the CC site. Fingers crossed. Keep you posted.

I think that area needs another site so that sounds as though it will fill the gap.
It's a lovely area you are lucky to live there, we particularly loved Oxwich bay and the fact that if you get there early enough you can park right at the front.
Thanks for the info, will look forward to updates. Could do with an alternative within spitting distance of Swansea. Have been visiting the Gower on a regular basis for more years than I care to remember............Mick

Sounds good Gower ray. The Gower is somewhere we'd like to go but access is often a little tricky for some of the sites (not that the OH usually worries and he's the one towing).
Keep us all posted - thanks

Access to the Gower difficult? Tell me about it! I've seen many a caravan and motor-home scratched to hell trying to negotiate the lanes that's why we go to West Wales with our Van
The good thing about this proposed site is that it's near enough to the beaches of the Gower and so easy to get to by road or rail (Station is only a ten minute walk for those thinking of backpacking). It'll be good for businesses in the village as well.
I've looked up the plans and the history of plans for the site and I think it was first proposed in 2006. Don't know whether or not it was declined or the owners decided to hang on for a bit. Whatever, it was resubmitted a couple of weeks ago. It should go before the planning committee at the end of this month. Can't see it being up and running this year if it does get passed but I'll let you all know what happens as and when.
