We run a non profit making organisation introducing families in poverty to the joys of camping. www.discoverycamps.co.uk. We have been asked to organise a camp for CAP (Christians Against Poverty CAPUK.org) in the vicinity of Market Harborough or Winchester and having spent 2 days viewing dozens of sites I hoped someone might have a gem they would share with me.
We need about 1000 sqm for the tents, dining tent and support vehicles. Good toilets and showers, (most of these families are camping virgins). We need some activities or points of interest on site, like a lake, river, petting zoo etc., as the families coming will be delivered but unless we specifically hire a vehicle we will not have transport. Activities within walking distance is great too.
A field in which we can play games with the kids would be really useful and where they can let off steam without upsetting anyone else - thats really important. But we are trying to stay away from full on sites with entertainment we will make our own evening fun. Trying to get away from TV, playstations etc.
All will be families, this is not a youth group. Just families who have fallen on hard times and who need a break. Having camped for 25 years we could not think of a better holiday and its cheap enough that they might choose to continue - who knows. Anyway I'm really stuck and would appreciate any help you can give me.
Thank you.

You might find it difficult to get a normal, commercial site to take such a large group.
Try the camp site search facility on this website (button is top-left) - it is excellent and allows you to search by required facilities and on a map, so you can select an area you want to go to...

Thanks for that but I tried the search facility, which as you say is outstanding - I love the pins on the map but there is no option for Rally field.
Regarding size - sorry I should have said we are only a maximum of 48 persons in 12 4 person tents and the space required 1000sqm takes into account the 3 m rule a dining tent etc. I know a number of sites allow 1.5m if its a group.
Cayton Bay Holiday Village, near Scarbrough, has a rally field, a small play area, showers, loos etc. It is a very short walk into the village, fish and chips etc. It's about half a mile walk to the local beach, which is a lovely beach but has lots of steps down so need to be mobile.

Campers do it in the mud!
Hubby says we can't camp as much this yr mmm we'll see!!
camped in 2009= 27nights
Booked for 2010 = 30 nights.
Don't know if you have already tried this but I just 'Goggled' "campsites with rally fields" and it came up with quite a list. There might be one there that is suitable.
Can I just say to everyone who has responded that once again I am overwhelmed by the level and quality of response. Thank you all so very much. I will follow each lead up.
