This is my first post on here so please be gentle.
Just bought our first ever tent and my wife and i are planning on using it at the end of May, Can anybody recommend a good campsite preferably in the North West of England. Criteria is as follows:- Obviously Tents allowed, Dogs Allowed, Village with pubs and good food within 10 minutes stroll, showers and toilet blocks and thats about it really. Done a search at the Lake District sites on here and The Croft at Hawkshead seems ideal for us.
Any recommendations welcome please.
Thanks, Jus.

I had a similar problem as there are many sites that looked good that suited my requirements. In the end, I used the reviews posted here to help whittle it down.
From this shorter list, I then used Google Earth to zoom in on the area around the sites to come up with a final list of 5. Luckily first choice was availabe, so we booked that.

Had a lovely grilled chicken sandwich at the Kings head in Hawkshead last Sunday, lovely infront of the log fire especially with a pint of Hawkshead bitter!!
Our fav camping site is Eskdale. Great site with good walks and pubs nearby. We changed from tent to caravan last May. Had a last 5 nights at Eskdale in the rain at Easter but was brilliant. Also recommend The Croft too. Hawkshead nice village with lots of pubs. Majority accept dogs too.Been there with our tent 2 years ago and ground was so wet cars were being towed off site.
